10.28: As one, the engine room techs attack the boarding party followed almost immediately by a squad of imperial marines assaulting the upper level of the engine room. The reckoner leaps to the second level and falls upon the marines as the Grimfangs are engaged on two fronts. Meanwhile, Ransom attempts to hack into the Destroyer’s system taking cover under one of the consoles. The dog soldier reaches the second level and lays down heavy fire with his pulse cannon. Ransom accesses the system and is able to initiate a forced maintenance shutdown of the power system as Horkos and Fenris lay waste to the marines. The Grimfangs suffer heavy losses as a band of Warmind operatives reaches the rear of the engine room from a sublevel. Horkos drops down to engage the operatives and Fenris secures the corridors leading to the engine room. Ransom and Horkos cut down the operatives, but the Grimfangs suffer massive casualties with two KIA, including Lotte. While Ransom sees to the boarding parties casualties and regroups, the dog soldier guns down a group of armed technicians before returning to the engine room. Led by Ransom, the boarding party attempts to reach the scalpel to extract the wounded. In route, Ransom detects three targets approaching and a brutal fight ensues with a pair of Blue Knights led by a Prophet. Horkos defeats the Prophet in single combat, Ransom shoots down one of the knights, and the dog soldiers kills the other with his arm blade. Ransom receives a panicked comm from the handmaiden indicating the Rakshasa has been boarded and both Vega and the princess taken prisoner by imperial marines. The boarding party reaches the scalpel only to find it under the control of a group of armed technicians who they swiftly murder. With all on board, Ransom detaches the scalpel from the destroyer and flies forward to breach the command deck. Under the cover of a smoke grenade, Fenris, Horkos, and Ransom assault the command deck killing a dozen members of the command crew. Ransom frees Vega and Penumbra while Subatis, using the princess as a shield, attempts to flee the command deck. The reckoner will have none of it and attacks slamming into them both separating them. In a brutal fight, Arden Horkos takes the head of Kochai Subatis.
